Plastic Player 2: Open-source Analog Interface for Digital Music

PlasticPlayer01

Brendan Dawes sent this project in. Thanks Brendan! He says:

“Dear lovely Adafruit,

Wanted to let you know about the new version of my Plastic Player, now made
using Espruino (and Rasp Pi)) and open source on Github.”

A follow up to the original Plastic Player – my device for fusing the best of analogue and digital music – this time made smaller, with a 3D printed enclosure, completely new electronics and published as open-source.

When I published the original I got a lot of emails asking if it would ever be made as a commercial product. Whilst I’m sure it might sell a few units, the journey going from a prototype to full product, complete with back-end system not to mention all the support that would be needed is a big one, so instead I decided to redesign it and publish all the details on Github , where anyone can go along and make their own and of course improve on it.

I use mine every single day and it’s as real joy to do so. I’m looking forward to seeing what people do and how they make it their own.

See more and find all the files on Github here!
